Offering a wide range of unique animal experiences, you can get up close and personal with turtles, sea stars, Lizards, Cownose Ras, reptiles, squids and many more. A conservational aquarium, Cairns Aquarium strives to protect marine species which are becoming increasingly endangered in Australia.

River Systems

Creeks and Streams

In the nooks and crannies of Australia’s creeks and Streams you can find an impressive range of freshwater species. From coloured crayfish to giant prawns, there are all kinds of species you didn’t know were hiding there! 

Waterways and Billabongs

Home to Freshwater Sawfish, whip rays, giant barramundi and mangrove jacks to name a few, Australia’s Waterway and Billabongs are the habitat of sea creatures of all shapes and sizes!

How to Get There

You can easily get to the heart of Cairns by walking, biking, driving or by bus. The Cairns Aquarium address is: 5 Florence St Cairns, Queensland, 4870 Australia

• Walk: Cairns Aquarium is one block away from the Esplanade, two blocks from the Lagoon Pool and a 5 minute walk away from the Cruise Terminal. 
• Drive: there is not a car park onsite at the Cairns Aquarium, but you can park on surrounding streets which have hourly and daily fees which may apply to metered parking.  
• Bus: if you are taking a bus, you can take the bus from Abbott Street which is just outside the Aquarium. Given that the aquarium is so central, you can take several different buses to the aquarium.
