Located in the Sunshine Coast hinterland, Maleny Botanic Gardens is the perfect place to relax away from the busy cities on the sunshine coast. Whether you fancy a simple walk around the gardens, or are keen to experience the birds, you can not miss out. And that is not everything, because the park also has some farm lands available, where you will meet goats, rabbits and a lot of different animals, and you will be able to interact with them and even feed them!

Attractions

The Gardens

Maleny Botanic Gardens is a unique garden that covers more than 23 acres. It overlooks a backdrop of the iconic Glass House Mountains and it is surrounded by an impressive rainforest. Visitors will have over 8 kilometers of walking paths to meander around thousands of different plants, ranging from roses, azaleas, annuals, and orchids placed throughout the Gardens, to some of the rarest cycads in the world. All of which are complemented by numerous lakes and waterfalls – providing great options to take pictures.

Bird World

With more than 600 native and exotic birds from around the world, Maleny Botanic has one an incredible offer that will surely impress visitors. You can take part on a walk-through, interactive guided tour, where they will get up close and personal with the birds while one of their caretakers tells you all about them

Farm Friends

Maleny Botanic Gardens farm shed is home to to a huge number of farm species, including guinea pigs, rabbits, Mediterranean miniature micro donkeys, miniature goats, baby-doll sheep, miniature pigs and lots of chicken and roosters! You can interact with them at certain times during the day, and you will even be able to feed them!

How to get there

Maleny Botanic Gardens and Bird World is located at: 233 Maleny Stanley River Rd, Maleny QLD 4552, Australia 

The best option to get there is using your car: you can drive an hour’s drive north of Brisbane, take exit Steve Erwin’s off the Bruce Highway.

Operating Hours

9am - 4.30pm

Open 7 days a week 364 days a year. The park is only closed on Christmas Day 

Food

If you fancy a bite to eat, you can enjoy a meal at the newly refurbished cafe in the Maleny Botanic Gardens and Bird World. 

Access

• There is accessible parking and coaches in one of the three car parks.  
• There are accessible toilets available.
