Experiences

Shallows Encounter

Included with your entry, this encounter gives you the opportunity to feed and pet this beautiful animals in one of the parks beach style lagoons.

Reef Shark Snorkel

Only available for the bravest, this experience wil allow you to swim around with the park biggest reef sharks and enjoy an unique experience. Suitable for ages 12+ only.

Little Ray Cuddle

One of the best activities for all ages, it will take you to the shallow water of Fingill Lagoon, where you will meet some rays and cuddle them on your lap`

Zebra Shark Encounter

Meet one of these endangered species and learn it all about them. You will even be able to pet and feed them!

How to get there

Irukandji Shark & Ray Encounters is located at 2 Jessie Rd Anna Bay, NSW, on the corner of Nelson Bay Rd and Jessie Rd. You can get there by car using two routes:

• From Newcastle: When leaving from Newcastle follow the signs towards Nelson Bay. At Salt Ash you will precede through 2 Roundabouts. About 10 minutes later you will come up to a third roundabout. Turn right at the roundabout from Nelson Bay road onto Jessie road and you will head straight into the new Irukandji.
• From Nelson Bay: Follow Nelson Bay Rd for about 10 minutes. You will pass through the roundabout that turns off towards Anna Bay to your left. Not long after this you will come upon another roundabout. Turn left at this roundabout onto Jessie Road and right into Irukandji.

Useful Information

Accessibility

Wide flat paths and the absence of steps have been included to assist in helping wheelchair users to enjoy the park. The pools and displays are also low in order to help visitors get the best possible view of the animals. Accessible toilets and change areas are also available onsite, as well as a number of wheelchairs that you can borrow in case you need them.

There are multiple picnic places along Irukandji Shark and Ray Encounters, as well as some places where you can enjoy a sitdown meal

Calendar and Opening Hours

Irukandji is open 364 days a year, closed only Christmas day. Their opening hours are 9am – 5pm daily. 

If you want to take part in one the tours, you must arrive at least by 3.30pm to make the last tour.
