Plunge yourself into a colourful, tasty world and learn all about fruit from around the world at Tropical Fruit World! Fusing fruit farming with tourism, Tropical Fruit World allows you to learn about over 500 fruits through fascinating guided tours and tastings, as well as many other educational and fun activities.

Established in 1983 in Duranbah and formerly known as Avocado Land, the park has been educating and inspiring its visitors on various fruits for over 25 years. Known for its idyllic, rural scenery, Tropical Fruit World offers a unique, relaxing ambience which can be enjoyed by all ages! During the visit, you will experience multiple activities like a tractor ride through amazing fruit plantations or a boat cruise, where you can see more than 86 unique species of native Australian birds. And as its expected, you will have the chance to enjoy a fruit tasting session, where you will learn it all about fruits, many of them you may not even heard of before.

Fruity Experiences

Farm Tour

Experience and awe-inspiring tour around 200 acres of farmland workings of Tropical Fruit World! The tour includes a journey through the orchards by Tractor Train, a Wildlife Boat Cruise and a chance to taste the farm’s exotic fruits at the Fruit Tasting Session.

The Plantation House

First built in 1972, the Plantation House has recently undergone extensive renovation and is renowned for its incredible cuisine which is made from the fresh food provided by the Tropical Fruit World farms. The Plantation House also hosts unforgettable events of all types!

Fruit Tasting

Sit down and enjoy an educational presentation followed by tasting some amazing exotic fruits that will surely impress you.

Farm Animals

The kids favourite experience, they will meet, pat and feed iconic farm animals like kangaroos to gentle miniature horses.

Fruit Markets

From lychee to jabicotia, you can discover an impressive array of exotic fruits from all over the world which are home-grown in Tropical Fruit World’s grounds. Treat yourself to some of the park’s delicious, freshly grown fruits and explore the market today!

Personalised Private Orchard Tour

In this private tour, you will ride a buggy while you discover areas hidden to the general public. The experience will conclude with a private dinner amidst the serene Tamarind glades.

How to get there

Located just South of the Gold Coast, Tropical Fruit World is halfway between Surfers Paradise and Byron Bay. You can get there using the next transport options:

• Car: if you are driving south on the Gold Coast, travel south along the Pacific Highway and then you won’t miss the giant avocado sign! Take the exit which is signed Murwillumbah Exit Route 40 and then you will see the signs to Tropical Fruit World.  
• Other options: You can also book a tour and transfer with Surf City Transfers 

Calendar and Schedule

Tropical Fruit World opens from 9am to 4pm every day of the year, excluding Christmas Day.

Useful Information

Accessibility

The fruit tasting sessions and Plantation Pavilion are both fully accessible, however, the orchard-based facilities are not.

There are access restrooms available throughout Tropical Fruit World and the dining area is also accessible. 

Please note that some of the activities require guests to walk 150 metres. 

Food and Drink

Enjoy a bite to eat at the Plantation Cafe which serves a range of products including coffee, ice-cream and cakes!
