The former lead singer of Noiseworks and Judas in the Australian version of Jesus Christ Superstar, Jon Stevens has enjoyed a versatile music career as both a solo artist and member of the successful Australian band.
Originally from Upper Hutt in New Zealand, Jon Stevens is of Scottish and Maori descent and began his music career in 1980 when he released his debut album Jezabel on CBS Records which peaked at number 7 on the New Zealand Chart as well as being certified Gold. After moving to Australia in 1981, he formed the band Change in 1983 which was renamed Noiseworks in 1986 and he became the lead singer.
Noiseworks then went onto release a series of smash hits including Take Me Back, New Sensation, Touch, Don’t Change, Hot Chilli Woman, Never Tear Us Apart, No Lies and many more successful numbers. In 1992, Stevens was part of the Australian Jesus Christ Superstar cast, playing the role of Judas and the cast recording album peaking at number 1. Jon Stevens has also been a successful solo artist, releasing several solo albums including Are U Satisfied which peaked at number 27 in the ARIA charts. From 2000 to 2003, Jon Stevens was then the front man of INXS, an Australian rock band, before departing from the band in 2009.
